RIVERMEAD RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

Minutes of Committee Meeting 19:30 2007-09-11, Tuesday

Present:

Christine Girolomini [CMG] (Chair), Peter Walsh [PW], John Turner [JHT], Jean Minshull [JM], Irene Dunstan [ID] Sally Gatheral

Apologies for Absence: Chris Fraser (subsequently).

Items Discussed:

Progress of the works continues to be very satisfactory.  JHT has attended a meeting with Freshwater and the contractors.  See separate report.

Balcony Rails (the wooden tops to the new ironmongery at Harvard) have not yet been fitted.  Some residents had expressed that the balconies appeared ok as they are now and perhaps they would look better without the toprail.  Close examination of one rail showed that there are holes drilled for the screws to attach a toprail, so one should be attached.  The meeting hoped that these toprails do not spoil the appearance by being too thick.

Report of the meeting at Beeches with Freshwater (see separate report) was presented.

Car Parking CMG has received a sample suggestion from Freshwater.  This was discussed, the meeting deciding that they were too easy to forge.  There is a need for security-numbered printing.

This year’s AGM will be October 29th.  CMG will negotiate the best price with Beeches.

Bruton Knowles have still not arranged residents’ compensation for floodwall works.  Progress is slow but continuing.

Health & Safety: SG has investigated the clarification of rules question and reports that public areas must be free from restrictions to movement so small plants are ok.  Mats however, are not allowed.

Committee Night Out The meeting decided to celebrate a good year with a meal for committee members at Beeches (at our own personal expense, of course).  Monday October 15th.

Date of next meeting:  24th October, JM to host.
